About Summit Lake Lodge

Summit Lake Lodge is located on Summit Lake, which is 80 miles south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula. We are located in the heart of the Chugach National Forest along the Seward Highway With its unsurpassed beauty, Summit Lake Lodge has become a landmark for many over the years. There are ample hiking trails, kayaking, fishing, and snow-mobiling and cross country skiing in winter. The mountains surrounding the Lake and Lodge are so numerous they remain un-named. Moose, brown and black bear, caribou, eagles, beaver and many other wild animals inhabit the area.
	Restaurant Summit Lake Lodge features a quality restaurant, featuring local foods like eye opening omelet's, Stuffed Halibut, Garbage Grinder, (hamburger to die for!), Fresh baked pies, Orange glazed Halibut, Shrimp, Mouthwatering Steaks and Prime Rib and the Best Burgers on the Mountain. Did someone say pie? Our assortment of pies are made daily by local bakers right on the Kenai Peninsula!!!
Bar Thirsty?? The rustic bar at Summit Lake Lodge is where you will always find a friendly bartender to serve you anything from a margarita or tasty local beer, to an after-dinner Baileys and coffee. Watch a current sporting event on the big screen TV, savor some appetizers from the Main Lodge, or just enjoy a drink and good company. But watch out for the bell! "He who rings the bell in jest, must buy a round for all the rest!"

Feel like an ice cream? We have lots of flavors to choose from! Or maybe a cappuccino, or espresso is more what you are after? We have it all in our hand built gift shop, and ice cream parlor.
Designed and hand built by Clarence and Esther Hass and their son William, the construction of Summit Lake Lodge began in 1951 and the doors opened for business in 1954. The logs and lumber were selected from the Chugach National Forest. The middle beams are spruce from the Hope area. They are hand hewn by Jack DeRanzo and originally measured 4 1/2 feet at the base. The interior of the building is tongue-and-groove pine shipped in from Washington State	.
